Earlier this year, the Future Fund, an initiative of the Community Foundation of Greater Greensboro, announced its Class of 2021, in which ten innovative nonprofits will pitch “Shark Tank” style for more than $45,000 at the Future Fund 10 LIVE event Tuesday, September 14, 2021.
Oh, did we mention we’re one of the ten innovative nonprofits? (We did mention it, all over the place . . excitedly, and with fanfare.) More than 50 incredible organizations applied this year! What set Barnabas apart? We can't be certain, but we feel in our souls it was a combo of our effusive love of providing a hand-up to neighbors and a certain executive director's epic spin in our application video.
To say we’re pumped to be in Future Fund 10 would be an understatement, and understatements aren’t really our style. This. Is. Big.
Future Fund 10 LIVE is one of the things that makes Greensboro, well, Greensboro. It’s a philanthropic storytelling competition that gives local nonprofits a platform to present program ideas, to sell a vision. Participants receive training, coaching, feedback and mentoring to leverage their stories and reach a broader audience. The event culminates in the Future Fund 10 LIVE event extravaganza at the Carolina Theatre, where executive directors from each of the selected nonprofits give their best three-minute pitch --- with a chance to win up to $45,000 in grants. The community-wide audience gets to text to vote for the $20,000 Grand Prize Winner. Future Fund members vote for the $12,000 and $8,000 awards. A $1,000 Coaches grant, $3,000 Livestream and a $1,000 Community grant is also awarded.
Tickets for the event are on sale now! This year’s event will be capped at 50% capacity to make sure everyone has room in the theatre, so be sure to stay tuned to www.futurefundgso.org and reserve your spot to cheer on Derrick and Team Barnabas.
