Join our family of volunteers

Barnabas volunteers keep the organization going. From welcoming clients to organizing household items to checking out customers at our sales, these people help us fulfill our goal of recycling furniture while restoring lives. Plus, our volunteers have a good time. There's something for everyone. Check out our job descriptions below and call about how you can become part of the family.

Volunteer Opportunities For Individuals

Housewares: These volunteers sort dishes and kitchen items and separate, fold and bundle sheets, pillowcases, blankets and bedspreads and place them on the appropriate shelves

Warehouse: We always need help unloading donations, loading furniture for clients, and moving and cleaning furniture in the warehouse.

Woodworking/Upholstery: These volunteers refurbish, refit and repair broken or torn furniture. Those with woodworking abilities help make tables for clients.

Front Office: The first faces our clients see are office volunteers, who greet clients and help them with paperwork. They also answer some phone calls and make thank-you calls to our donors.

Shopping Assistants: A shopping assistant accompanies a client through the warehouse to help clients choose their furniture and housewares.

Volunteer Opportunities For Groups

Barnabas regularly welcomes groups of volunteers who are middle school age and older. Groups have included summer camps, young people from churches and schools and adults from local companies or service organizations.

These volunteers have made tables, sanded and painted furniture, put together boxes and organized housewares -- just to name a few jobs. The work is always more fun in a group!

If you're a member of a group who would like to help us furnish homes for neighbors in need, just call. We're happy to arrange volunteer times outside our normal hours of operation.
