A Restful Night's Sleep -- Thanks to Leesa!

Beds are everything around here. We give out more than 1,500 of them each year, and over half go to school-age children. The thing is, we're a furniture bank, and that means our inventory depends on donations. This is why we're always stressing out about beds. Will we have enough? We have to. In a pinch, we'll purchase beds ourselves in order to make sure all of our clients get a good night's sleep. A few months ago, we got to talking with a donor, and something wonderful happened: a connection with one of the mattress industry's most charitable companies. We became friends with Leesa!
We were practically made for each other. Headquartered in Phoenix, Leesa is a pioneer of the bed-in-the-box concept, dedicated to giving back through mattress donations, and they partner with CleanHub and communities in India to divert and recover ocean-bound plastic! We got big-time heart eyes and butterflies at the prospect of a relationship --- and our dreams came true when the Leesa team let us know a high-impact delivery was headed our way. The 100 mattresses went straight to work, headed out into the community along with other essential home furnishings, all at NO COST to individuals and families on the path to self-sufficiency.
Since our 2006 founding, we've had one program of work: providing systemic encouragement through home furnishings for people who are transitioning out of homelessness, fleeing abuse, overcoming major obstacles, and breaking the cycle of poverty. We make that happen by collecting more than 17,000 pieces of furniture each year from individual donors, retailers, and manufacturers. We serve 35-40 households a week out of our Greensboro and High Point locations and we're more focused than ever before on eradicating furniture poverty. We're grateful to Leesa for believing in our mission and helping us ensure a helping hand up for all of our neighbors.
“Seeing the incredible impact of our mattresses through The Barnabas Furniture Bank inspires us to keep giving back.”— Jen Pressley, head of Leesa
