We Give New Life To Your "Old" Furniture & Housewares

jcaldwell82

At Barnabas, it's pretty simple: furniture comes in and furniture goes right back out. This is where you come in. We want your old stuff! We're meeting a rising need and your donations of gently-used or new furniture and household items are tax deductible and will make an immediate impact. Your "old" stuff helps us fight furniture poverty.

Are you in the market for a new couch or bed? Does that kitchen drawer stick a little when you open it because you own too many utensils and gadgets? Are you downsizing? Let us help lighten your load!

What Do We Need?

We are always in need of the following:

Mattresses & box springs

Dressers/chests of drawers

Dining/kitchen tables & chairs

Appliances (electric): washer/dryers, stoves, refrigerators

Complete bed frames with rails (especially twin, full, queen)

Sofas or love seats, arm chairs

sofa beds, futons & bunk beds, nightstands, sofa tables, consoles, end tables, coffee tables, and all types of housewares, including pots & pans, clean bedding & linens, dishes, silverware, glassware, small appliances, and lamps.

How Can You Donate Items?

If you live in the Greater Guilford County area, have large items to donate (and they're easily accessible on the ground floor or in a garage) AND your request isn't time-sensitive, you can book a free Barnabas pickup. If you have large items to donate and they need to be gone quickly, or they're not on a ground floor, we now offer a ReSupply-powered priority third-party moving service pickup. Both pickup options are on our website. Or, you can call 336-370-4002. The warehouse is open for drop-off donations Monday-Friday 8 a.m.-2 p.m. Come on by and drop off items (and get a tour while you're at it!) at 838 Winston Street, Greensboro, NC 27405.

What Difference Does It Make?

We collect more than 15,000 pieces of furniture each year and we find new homes for it with 3,700 individuals and families who are transitioning out of homelessness, fleeing abuse, overcoming major obstacles, and/or breaking the cycle of poverty. It costs the average North Carolinian $7,000 to outfit a 2-bedroom apartment with the necessary items to make a functional living space. We shoulder the financial burden of home furnishings so that our neighbors who are on the path to self-sufficiency can focus on thriving. In the process, we keep more than 125 tons of perfectly good furniture and home goods from winding up in the landfill. When we say we recycle furniture and restore lives, we mean it.

We do what we do thanks to partnerships. We partner with 150+ agencies here in the community who help us identify the need for furniture. We do the heavy lifting (literally) so that these partner agencies can focus on their areas of expertise and let us handle the furniture when it's the right time for it to make a difference.

We couldn't do any of this without the star of the show: furniture. We rely on a steady stream of furniture donations to ensure that every client leaves our showroom with the full Barnabas experience. Remember, this is your time to shine. Think of us the next time you're cleaning out the hall closet, or planning a move. Redecorating the living room? We're here. That air fryer you're not using? We'll take it. Together, we can furnish the change for our neighbors.
