Gratitude ... With a Twist

"Why Barnabas?" That's the question we wanted to answer in a short, evergreen video to have handy for supporters, community sponsors, and potential donors ... really for anyone curious about what we do. We put the video on our 6-month to-do list. Then, furniture bank life happened, as it always does. Somehow, a fateful blend of kismet and Linked-In led us to Dylan at With a Twist Media, a Greensboro-based production company. He wanted to help us tell the Barnabas story.
Remember the thing about furniture bank life, though? We're a lean and scrappy 12-person team and it's always all hands on deck. How would we ever block off the time to shoot a video with day-to-day operations happening at both locations, furniture pickups, a fundraiser auction and all the things? Dylan made it easy. He came to us ... on a Saturday! And in a few hours, Dylan and With a Twist made a gorgeous, professional video, one that answers the million dollar question in one minute and 30 seconds: Why Barnabas?
How about that? Powerful. We're grateful to Dylan and proud to have With a Twist Media as a partner in changing lives.
Barnabas is in its 20th year of recycling furniture and restoring lives. We began as a grassroots response to natural disasters, and here we are two decades later, picking up 17,000 pieces of furniture each year in order to furnish 1,000+ homes, along the way diverting 425 tons of perfectly-good items from winding up in the landfills. To make it all happen, we partner with 150 local agencies, groups, and retailers & manufacturers who believe in the power of second chances.
The premise remains the same today as it was back then, though: Barnabas offers systemic encouragement in the form of essential home furnishings when our neighbors need a helping hand up. We want to hear from you. What's your Why Barnabas story?
