Back to Dunn: A Rooms To Go Love Story

We guess you could say it's getting pretty serious with Rooms To Go. Remember last year when we took the big truck down to Dunn, NC and picked up a load of dressers that seriously changed the game around here? It was our first time connecting with RTG -- and wow, what an experience! The Dunn warehouse and outlet center is over a million square feet and we got to go on a tour in a sweet little red car and everything. Most importantly, we learned how committed RTG is to playing an active role in helping communities thrive. Oh, we made a short road trip mini-documentary about it, of course.

The RTG donation enabled us to give each family two dressers, instead of the traditional one, for nearly a year. The impact was far-reaching, and it solidified our relationship with one of the country's top ten furniture titans.

Earlier this spring, we were delighted to learn we had been selected as an official RTG Gives Back charity, an honor that gave us some serious exposure on RTG's social media channels AND prime coverage on its website! We were still geeking out over that when RTG reached back out to say there was another life-changing dresser donation waiting for us down in Dunn. Yowza!

What does a furniture bank do when RTG calls? Around here, we jump in the big truck and go! And, yes, we turn it into a cinematic experience.

High-impact donations, sunshine, wonderful NC scenery . . . rotisserie chicken --- our 2022 Dunn trip was a total blast! And we arrived back at Winston Street with a truckload of hope and possibility for neighbors who are transitioning out of homelessness, fleeing abuse, overcoming major obstacles, and breaking the cycle of poverty.

It's always an exciting moment when that first RTG dresser rolls out to make someone's house a home.

We're beyond thankful for our partnership with Rooms To Go. This is corporate responsibility in action. Because RTG believes in supporting communities like ours, we get to maximize the difference we're making in the lives of people on the path to self-sufficiency. This is what it means to walk the walk. RTG gets it: it's about more than furniture.

So, a day trip to RTG in Dunn gets five stars. We highly recommend! Oh, and incidentally --- while you're there, head over to Carlie's IGA and visit the deli. You won't be disappointed!
