Barnabas Network COVID-19 Phased Re-Opening

May 13, 2020

In keeping with Governor Cooper's announcement about re-opening the state, we have a plan for a phased re-opening of The Barnabas Network. Our focus remains unchanged, to Recycle Furniture and Restore Lives. We are here to be a helping hand up to families in our community who are striving to get back on their feet by providing them with the furniture and furnishings to turn their house into a home. The goal of our phased re-opening is to safely resume our program of service ensuring that the life-changing experience we offer continues to be a positive one that supports the family’s health and well-being, one that moves them forward in their journey toward self-sufficiency. In doing so, we are taking steps to adapt our program to protect the health and safety of all of our staff, donors, volunteers, and the families we serve. The following phases for our re-opening will be initiated in coordination with the timing of the Governor’s plan. For more information or answers to specific questions, please contact us at info@thebarnabasnetwork.org or call 336-370-4002.

Barnabas Network Spring Dinner Postponed

March 30, 2020

The Barnabas Network Dinner, scheduled for May 5, 2020, has been postponed in light of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The dinner is the kick-off to our annual giving campaign and a vital part of our fundraising – a quarter of our operating budget comes from individual donors. The dinner is also our opportunity to tell people about the lives our donors helped change during the past year and to introduce newcomers to the work we do.

Even though we’re postponing the dinner, our work continues, with focused preparation for what we anticipate to be an even greater need for our services in the weeks and months to follow, as we know our community will be greatly affected by the economic impact of this crisis.
Our immediate priority is supporting the health and financial security of our employees, the people on the front line of changing lives every day, by ensuring they continue receiving consistent paychecks during this time of uncertainty. They are an amazing group of people. Last year they collected 8,883 pieces of furniture, keeping thousands of pounds of waste out of our landfills. They gave out 1,115 beds, ensuring that children and parents in our community got a good night’s sleep. In total, they helped to restore the lives of 2,008 of our friends and neighbors. These employees also worked hard to utilize our additional warehouse space, instituting a new inventory system, and making the operational changes necessary to shorten the wait time for a family to receive furniture from two months to less than two weeks.
We hope donors will consider going ahead and making a contribution to our mission. You can pledge online here.

We look forward to rescheduling the dinner for early fall. Thank you to our dinner sponsors, who have already committed to underwriting the cost of the event. They are: Platinum Sponsor: Trust Company of the South; Gold Sponsor: Koury Corp.; Silver Sponsors: FEMCO Construction
Courtney Murchison & Marc Seidman, and Terminix; Bronze Sponsors: Dodson, Shelton & Nelson PA, Duncan Ashe PA, Robert J. Knox DDS, Pete Wall Plumbing, and Replacements Ltd; Hosts: Susan & Denis Jacobson, Mountcastle Insurance, and Erica & David Worth.
